Why choose a solid wood board?

From a practical standpoint, a wooden cutting board is the most natural, traditional, and kitchen-friendly product. Not only does it minimize knife dulling, but with minimal care, it can also be long-lasting. Wood inherently possesses antibacterial properties, but to maintain this, proper conditions and care for the board are essential.

Our boards are ready to use, meaning the wood surface is impregnated with a suitable food-grade oil and coated with a layer of oil-wax, providing additional protection against moisture. However, please note that this protection is periodic, and depending on usage intensity, the impregnation process should be repeated periodically – a home spa treatment for your board! 😊

Advantages:

Firstly - Durability.
The Oak hardwood is characterized by high resistance to wear and mechanical damage. It's no wonder oak boards often top the list of choices for intensive kitchen use. It's worth noting that the durability of this wood also contributes to its weight. Oak chopping blocks and end grain boards can be quite heavy 😊

Secondly - Aesthetic Appeal.
Contrary to appearances, the grain pattern (known as flader) of oak wood is characterized by rich grain and a wide palette of brown hues. It is particularly charming in the so-called rustic class, with numerous cracks and knots.

Thirdly - resistance to insects and fungi.
Indeed, oak wood is naturally resistant to insect and fungal attacks. This is due to the presence of substances such as tannins, which both 'repel' insects and protect the wood from decay. Importantly, oak also has a natural resistance to moisture, which is a constant factor in kitchen activities.
